Iran, Egypt foreign ministers meet on OIC summit sidelines

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met and held talks with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry on Saturday afternoon.

The two Iranian and Egyptian top diplomats met on the sidelines of the OIC meeting in the capital of Gambia.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian arrived in Banjul, the capital of Gambia, early on Saturday morning, in order to attend the 15th summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Iran’s Foreign Minister is scheduled to explain Iran’s positions regarding the Islamic world and regional and international developments at the OIC meeting.

He is also set to hold meetings with several officials of Islamic countries on the sidelines of the summit.

The OIC summit, slated to be held on Saturday and Sunday, is mainly themed “Promoting Unity and Solidarity Through Dialogue for Sustainable Development.”

Various issues and challenges in the Muslim world, especially the issue of Palestine and the status quo in the Gaza Strip will be discussed.

Three documents, including the draft of a resolution on Palestine, the draft of the Banjul Communique, and the draft of the final document of the summit will be presented to the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers and afterward to the summit.
