UAE-Israeli Base in Socotra – A Suicidal Step

When the Leader of the Islamic Revolution recently said the UAE – or rather the emirate of Abu Dhabi whose tribal rulers the Aal-e Nahyan clan that dominates the confederation of seven Persian Gulf sheikhdoms – has committed treason against the Muslim world by establishing ties with the avowed enemy of Islam, the illegal Zionist entity, he was not letting out an angry burst of helplessness at the latest act of US devilry in the region.
As a matter of fact, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was warning the traitors of unwittingly accelerating their own end through their shortsighted move in ignoring the occupation of Palestine and the desecration of Islam’s first qibla, the al-Aqsa Mosque in Bayt al-Moqaddas, on the assumption that Israel’s setting up of bases in the Red Sea-Persian Gulf area would prolong their precarious rootless and unrepresentative existence.
He rightly remarked: “The UAE betrayed the Islamic Ummah, the Arab states, regional countries and Palestine itself. Of course, this betrayal will not last long, and the stain of this infamy will remain on them.”
On the heels of the visit to the al-Dhafra US military base by senior Zionist officials along with the notorious Jared Kushner – the Jewish son-in-law of US president Donald Trump – shortly after their landing in Abu Dhabi on board the first El Al flight from Tel Aviv, news comes that the UAE which in 2018 occupied Yemen’s Socotra is setting up a joint spying base with Israel on this island.
Socotra overlooks the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait, a main shipping route that connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean, and its occupation by the UAE which has deployed hundreds of troops, has not only resulted in a rift with the authorities in Yemen, but led to vociferous protests by its inhabitants who complain of the ecological damage being done by the invaders.
The 132 x 49 km long island which was recognized in 2008 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to a large number of endemic species found nowhere in the world. It has been described as “the most alien-looking place on Earth.”
MBZ (Mohamed bin Zayed), the Abu Dhabi Heir Apparent and de facto ruler who wields more power than his reclusive half-brother Sheikh Khalifa the legal head of the Abu Dhabi emirate and UAE president – is a US-Zionist agent like his bosom pal the infamous Saudi Heir Apparent MBS (Mohamed bin Salman).
In the words of Ibrahim Fraihat, a professor of international conflict resolution at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, the UAE-Israeli base in Socotra intends to provide security services to the US regarding the Chinese economic activity, especially its trade with Europe, in view of Trump’s tense relationship with Beijing.
He added: “Trump is engaged in a trade war with China and needs to monitor the Chinese commercial activities.”
Indian analyst Haidar Abbas was perhaps more blunt when he said: “From now onwards, Socotra Island will neither be of Yemen nor of the UAE, but its complete suzerainty will belong to Israel, meaning the US.”
He also called the spying base a threat to the Islamic Republic of Iran, and said: “If the Israel-UAE deal includes India as well, then this triangle can pose a serious threat to Pakistan – the only nuclear state in the Muslim world; similarly, it can endanger peace and security in whole of South Asia and the Middle East.”
As has been warned by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and senior Iranian officials, Tehran which for long has known of the covert ties between the Zionist entity and certain Arab states of the Persian Gulf, including the UAE, if these traitors do not come to their senses to reconsider this treasonous move against Islam and Muslims, then they will be ultimate losers.
It is obvious that the days of Israel are numbered. No matter what desperate moves the US makes to prolong the illegal survival of the Zionists in the Levant, the inevitable doom will not be averted, and it seems that along with Israel the reactionary Arabs and their British created fiefdoms are also marching towards their end – to the joy of the oppressed Arab Muslim masses of the whole of West Asia from Palestine to the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea.
