Top IRGC Commander: Iran After Most Advanced Weapons

Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Hossein Salami stated on Sunday that Iran is seeking to make the most advanced weapons.

Addressing an IRGC conference in Tehran, Major General Salami said since “weapons play an effective role in wars”, the IRGC is pursuing plans to manufacture and obtain the most advanced arms.

“However, the IRGC would not rely solely on weapons or expect them to perform a miracle,” he continued, adding that his forces trust in God and consider it as the key to victory.

Military officials say Iran has been able to achieve the state-of-the-art defense technologies despite sanctions and pressures.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the major general hailed the IRGC commanders for their courage, and stressed that the pious people do not give up, and get stronger as they approach danger.

Tehran says it will not hesitate to boost its military capabilities, including its missile and drone power, which are entirely meant for defense.

Iranian experts have in recent years succeeded in manufacturing a broad range of military equipment, including destroyers, hi-tech radars, missile systems as well as several types of drones and missiles.

In early July, Iranian Army Ground Force Commander Brigadier General Kioumars Heidari said his forces have been supplied with different types of precision-striking and smart weapons to defend the country’s peace and stability.

He described the Ground Force’s defense and military achievements as a “thorn in the side of the sworn enemies” of Iran.

The Iranian general added the army forces now rely on the domestically-made weapons and military equipment to supply their needs for defending the country.
