IRGC Chief: Iran’s Avenge for Assassination of Veteran Military Advisor to End in Annihilation of Israel

Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, Major General Hossein Salami on Thursday, stressed that the recent assassination of an Iranian military advisor by Israel in Syria will not remain unpunished, and Tehran’s retaliation will be nothing less than the removal of the Zionist regime.

Thousands of mourners gathered in Tehran’s Central Imam Hossein (AS) Square on Thursday to attend the funeral procession for Brigadier General Seyed Razi Mousavi who was martyred in an Israeli attack in Syria days ago, chanting “Death to Israel” and “Death to America”.

“We will never exercise patience in the face of the martyrdom of our people. Our revenge will be nothing but the elimination of the Zionist regime,” Maj. Gen. Salami said during the funeral ceremony of the slain commander.

The IRGC military advisor’s martyrdom came out of the incapability and weakness of the Zionist regime, he added.

The top general was martyred Monday in an Israeli raid in Damascus suburb in Syria, according to a statement from IRGC public relations. He was one of the IRGC’s veteran advisers in Syria and a close associate of Tehran’s anti-terror icon Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, who was assassinated in a US drone strike in Iraq in January 2020.

Iran maintains an advisory mission in the war-ravaged country at the request of Damascus, helping it in the face of foreign-backed terrorism. Several members of the IRGC have so far been martyred in the battle against terrorists in Syria. Israel has been a key supporter of the terrorist groups during the war and has frequently targeted military positions inside Syria.

Iranian officials have in recent days stressed Tehran’s firm determination to take revenge for the assassination of the senior military advisor, warning that Tehran won’t let this crime remain unanswered.

The IRGC chief also stated that enemy knew Brig. Gen. Mousavi well because “it had received severe blows from him”.
