Iran’s Human Rights Chief: Trump, Pompeo, Ex-CENTCOM Chief Main Criminals in Gen. Soleimani Assassination Case

Iran’s Deputy Judiciary Chief and Human Rights Headquarters Head Kazzem Qaribabadi said that several Americans were involved in the terror operation against Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani four years ago, and cited former US President Donald Trump, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former Head of the CENTCOM General Kenneth Franklin McKenzie as main culprits in the case.

Qaribabadi stated on Sunday that this criminal case against those suspected of assassinating Martyr Soleimani has nearly 100 American defendants, of which 26 individuals have their legal proceedings suspended while 73 others have received indictment.

The judiciary official added Trump, Pompeo and McKenzie are the main suspects behind the crime which he brands as “violation of all international rules and the United Nations Charter”.

Lieutenant General Soleimani, his Iraqi trenchmate Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, the second-in-command of Iraq’s PMU, and ten of their deputies were martyred by an armed drone strike that was directly ordered by the White House as their convoy left Baghdad International Airport in early January 2020.

Both commanders were highly revered across the Middle East because of their key role in fighting the Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) Takfiri terrorist group in the region, particularly in Iraq and Syria.

Tehran has asked Interpol to issue a red notice for all perpetrators and masterminds of the assassination of Lieut. Gen. Soleimani. The Iranian Foreign Ministry has also declared sanctions against several persons – including Trump, Pompeo and former National Security Advisor John Bolton – who have ordered, perpetrated or cooperated in the assassination of Lieutenant General Soleimani.

Back in May, Tehran’s Prosecutor General Ali Salehi issued arrest warrants for dozens of former and present US officials, including Trump, Pompeo and McKenzie for their involvement in the assassination of the anti-terror hero. In early December, an Iranian court ruled the United States government and a number of individuals and entities should pay almost $50 billion in compensation for assassinating Tehran’s anti-terror icon.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Qaribabadi stressed that Daesh was created by Washington and its allies in West Asia; they formed a coalition with some countries in the region to counter the terror group, but it eventually saved terrorists.
