Iran Showcases Largest Maritime Simulator in West Asia

The Iranian Navy unveiled the largest ship navigation and command simulator in West Asia during a ceremony in the Northern city of Nowshahr.

The event was attended by Commander of the Iranian Army Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi and Commander of the Iranian Navy Rear Admiral Shahram at the Imam Khomeini Naval University of Nowshahr on Wednesday.

The simulator is the largest in West Asia, Second Flotilla Admiral Arya Shafeghat said.

He stated that the simulator was a great achievement for the Iranian Armed forces, adding that it was developed using state-of-the-art domestic technology.

It comes as the Iranian Navy has set up three ocean commands supervising naval missions to the Indian Ocean, the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has recently called for the all-out promotion of combat capabilities of the Iranian Navy, stressing the need for the naval force to continue its presence in international waters and high seas.

“The huge capacities of the sea must turn into [a component of] the country’s public culture,” he stated in a meeting with a number of high-ranking Iranian Navy commanders in late November.

Back in mid-July, Iran’s Navy upgraded its force by incorporating a special division tasked with transporting and operating various drones. Iranian officials have emphasized that the Iranian Navy enjoys the capability to fly hundreds of drones at once to carry out various missions.

The Islamic Republic’s military doctrine holds that the country’s armed capability solely serves defensive purposes.

Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made substantial headway in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the weaponry sphere.

Iranian officials have repeatedly stressed that the country will not hesitate to boost its military capabilities, including its missile and drone power, which are entirely meant for defense, and that Iran’s defense capabilities will never be subject to negotiation.
