Iran Disbands Israeli-Affiliated Espionage Network

Iranian security forces dismantled a team of spies affiliated to Israel in the Northwestern province of West Azerbaijan.

Director-General of the Intelligence Ministry’s office in West Azerbaijan province said on Saturday that the largest spy network affiliated to the Zionist regime in the province was dismantled.

The spy network was trying to carry out acts of sabotage inside Iran but with the vigilance of the intelligence forces, these threats were thwarted and the spy network was dismantled, he said.

The scope of activities of the intelligence forces is in the form of thwarting pre-planned conspiracies and disrupting anti-security groups, as well as identifying infiltrators and their leaders, the official added.

In a relevant development in May, an intelligence ministry official said that the Iranian security forces identified and smashed 3 espionage networks in the Northwestern province of West Azerbaijan in less than two months,.

Director-general of the intelligence ministry’s office in West Azerbaijan province said that the security and intelligence forces in the Northwestern province identified and dismantled three espionage networks in the past 58 days which sought to deal a blow to the Islamic Republic and create insecurity and instability inside the country.
