Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi highlighted the significant role that Turkey can play in preventing an intensification of the Zionist regime’s atrocities against the people of Gaza.
Turkey can play a significant role in preventing the spread of Israeli crimes against the women and children of Gaza, Raisi said in a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, held in Tehran on Monday.
Referring to the unique and unprecedented outpouring of people of the world on five continents in support of the oppressed people of Palestine, Raisi stressed the need for the convergence of Islamic countries to put pressure on the Zionist regime to stop the strikes on Gaza and establish a ceasefire.
At least 5,087 Palestinians have been killed and thousands of others wounded in Israeli attacks since October 7, when Hamas launched a surprise operation outside Gaza.
Commenting on the circumstances in the Caucasus, the Iranian president said the convergence and consensus created among the regional countries are effective in solving the existing problems and challenges.
There is no unsolvable problem in the Caucasus region, the president added, calling for the employment of the capacity of the “Caucasus Cooperation Group” at the Tehran meeting to solve the existing challenges and problems.
Foreign Minister Fidan, for his part, highlighted Turkey’s alignment with Iran to solve the regional issues through intraregional talks without foreign interference, and described holding the meeting of the “Caucasus Cooperation Group” as a basis for solving the existing challenges among the countries of the Caucasus.
He also noted that Iran plays an effective role in establishing peace and stability in the region.
Before the meeting with President Raisi, the top Turkish diplomat joined his counterparts from Iran, Russia, Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan for the 2nd meeting of the “3+3” Regional Platform about the South Caucasus developments.
