President Rayeesi, Cabinet Members Renew Allegiance to Late Imam Khomeini’s Ideals

During the event that took place on Thursday morning in the presence of the Custodian of Imam Khomeini’s Mausoleum Seyed Hassan Khomeini, Rayeesi paid tribute to the Late Founder of the Islamic Revolution by placing a bouquet of flowers on his grave.

The visit came only one day after almost all of his proposed ministers were approved by the Parliament.

The ceremony, practiced traditionally by Iranian administrations on the first day of the formation of their cabinet, marks the practical start of the administration’s work.

The Iranian legislators gave votes of confidence to the 18 nominees of Rayeesi for different cabinet posts, with only the proposed education minister failing the vote.

Rayeesi was elected Iran’s eighth president after he garnered almost 62 percent of the votes in the June 18 election with a turnout of 48.8 percent. He succeeds President Hassan Rouhani, who served two four-year terms in office.

The swearing-in ceremony of President Rayeesi was held at the parliament in Tehran on August 5 in the presence of high-ranking Iranian officials and foreign guests from over 70 world states.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei had officially endorsed Rayeesi as Iran’s 8th president in a ceremony in Tehran on August 3.
