The U.S. Kharab al-Jir military base in Syria’s Hasaka province has been shelled with rockets, the SANA news agency reported on Tuesday.
According to its information, five rockets were fired upon the military airfield at the Kharab al-Jir base used by U.S. troops.
The agency noted that immediately following the attack several U.S. helicopters were scrambled trying to detect the area where the rockets were launched.
There were no reports of casualties or damage.
Since 2015, the U.S. command has created nine bases in north-eastern Syria with the U.S. military stationed there assisting a Kurdish militants, the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), purportedly in their fight against the Daesh terrorist group.
The U.S. military has stationed forces and equipment in eastern and northeastern Syria, with the Pentagon claiming that the deployment is aimed at preventing the oilfields in the area from falling into the hands of Daesh terrorists.
Amid smoldering public resentment over the deployment of American occupation forces in northeastern Syria, people have on numerous occasions blocked U.S. military convoys in the province of Hasakah as they were attempting to pass through their communities.
Damascus views the U.S. military presence as an illegal occupation which is accompanied by the plunder of natural resources that belong to the Syrian people.
Former U.S. president Donald Trump admitted on several occasions that American forces were in Syria for its oil.
After failing to oust the Syrian government with the help of its proxies and direct involvement in the conflict, the U.S. government has now stepped up its economic war on the Arab country.
